L'INDONESIA RISCHIA L'ESCLUSIONE DAI SEA GAMES E LE QUALIFICAZIONI PER IL MONDIALE
After women’s football was excluded from the Southeast Asian Games 2011 in Indonesia, men’s football andfutsal may be rejected from the region’s largest sports event.
The Secretary General of the Indonesian Football Federation Joko Driyono has admitted that FIFA may penalize the Indonesian football team by banning it from the qualifier round of the World Cup 2014 and the SEA Games 2011.
As the host of SEA Games 2011, it is possible that Indonesia will reject men’s football and futsal from the games. Earlier, this country excluded women’s football from the SEA Games 2011, reasoning that they are unable to organize this category.
If men’s football is rejected from SEA Games 2011, it will be bad news for Vietnam, because men’s football is a key sports category of Vietnam.
“If the host of SEA Games doesn’t want to organize men’s football or any sports, we have to accept,” said Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation, Nguyen Trong Hy.
Hy said that if this happens, perhaps the ASEAN Football Federation will organize a separate football tournament to compensate for this, like the case with women’s football.
FIFA will announce the ban by May 30. The reason is that Indonesia did not submit the list of candidates running for the Indonesian Football Federation’s Chair and Vice Chair positions and organize its congress by May 21.
According to Hy, there were up to 9 candidates for the Chairmanship and 26 for the Vice Chairmanship, so the election was in chaos.
