Ecco l'intervista di Pulpis ai media Thailandesi.......(Bangkok, Thailand - 25 August 2011) - It was a sad day all around for Futsal in Thailand as Jose Maria Pazos Mendez, popularly known asPulpis left Thailand after stepping down as the National Coach of Thailand just 24 hours earlier after a stint that lasted almost 4 years in the Kingdom.

In a decision that sent shockwaves all around ringing, Pulpis made the announcement via an official statement sent to media here in Thailand.

“It’s a very sad moment for me and one which is also a very difficult decision that I had to finally make to cut my ties with the Thailand National Team. The last two months have been the most difficult in my entire professional life but I believe this decision is the correct one”, said Pulpis as he breathed heavily, trying to overcome his emotions.

Continuing, the Spaniard said: “I thank everyone including the media, and the fans in Thailand for having given me the best memories I have ever had in Futsal. It has been very good. The players, the staff I worked with and my Chairman, Adisak are the real heroes of the achievements we have made in the last 4 years.

The players have been remarkable and deserve a lot of credit too. And my Chairman Adisak, I do not have enough words to say thank you to him. He was more than just a Chairman of Futsal. He has my friendship and respect for all time. He is probably one of the best if not the best Futsal person I know who really cares about the sport and who wants to help it develop. Sadly I think Thailand is poorer is Futsal now since he is no more involved. As for me, I believe I have worked very hard and hope to always be remembered as someone who made a positive difference to Thailand Futsal.”

Whilst several have speculated on the reasons for Pulpis’s sudden departure, the man himself confirmed that he hadn’t signed on with any clubs or national teams despite admitting that his management had received several offers over the last two months in light of various upheavals at the Football Association of Thailand.

“At the moment, I have not signed with any club nor national team but there are offers. We will make a decision in the coming days or weeks but I will be back to what I love most which is to coach. Many media have speculated on why I have left suddenly and I will tell my side of the story in the coming days, as I believe I owe that to the people of Thailand and importantly the fans. It has been a very difficult last two months and I think this decision is the right one.

“The Football Association of Thailand have a new Futsal Chairman, a new committee and new people so obviously it’s a time of change for them and equally for me, if I needed to make the change, the time is also now.

“For now I ask that the media and the fans do not speculate any further on possible reasons for my departure. I will tell no doubt share my thoughts in the coming days.”

Pulpis’ departure surely comes at a massive blow, given Thailand’s intentions of wanting to put on a good show in front of their fans come November next year when they host the FIFA Futsal World 2012.

Over the time that the 37-year old Spaniard had been with the team, Thailand scaled the heights of world futsal with performances that stunned the global futsal family and gained a huge measure of respect.

Clearly there have been several highlights during his time in Thailand and when asked what was his favourite, Pulpis responded that there were far to many but his time spent with the players and Adisak were a constant joy.

Perhaps there were really too many, after all, Thailand were indeed a marvel to watch during Pulpis’ time with their marauding attacking style coupled with disciplined defense.

Watch this space as we bring you more stories on Pulpis’ departure in the coming days.
